This week officially marks 10 years since my first class as Hampshire School of Jewellery (I had previously taught at a local college for 6 years)

That first lesson was at my dining room table with just one student learning how to use Silver Art Clay. Jane had stayed in touch after attending my college classes and wanted to continue learning; she signed up for this initial class as soon as I released the details.  Ten years later she is still a regular in my Monday evening class so it only seemed right that she be the first subject of a new series of blogs I have planned.

Jane has kindly answered some questions for me to share and I have some photos of her creations to show you too.

Which classes have you taken and do you have a favourite?

I have taken many classes over the years including Beginners and Intermediate Silver Art Clay, beading and enamelling. Silver clay being my favorite.

What has been your favourite piece to make?

My favourite piece is probably still the amber ring as it was one of the the first things I ever made back when we were at the college.

Do you have a favourite technique?

Got to love a bit of hammering & texturing!

Which piece of jewellery (that you have made!) do you wear the most?

I love wearing any of my stacking rings.

Is there a piece you found hard to create but you love the end result?

Anything that involved using bezel strip!

Would you recommend Hampshire School of Jewellery and why?

I would definately recommend Hampshire School of Jewellery.  It’s the perfect place to learn a new skill with a fantastic teacher who is both patient, passionate & professional.

Jane kindly shared what being part of Hampshire School of Jewellery has meant to her:

“I have been studying with Laura at Hampshire School of Jewellery for 10 years.  She is the most patient and knowledgeable tutor which is just what you want when you are learning a new skill such as jewellery making.  I have loved my journey particularly the friends I have made but more importantly all the beautiful pieces of jewellery I have created for myself; especially the sparkly ones!”

Thank you so much Jane for taking the time to share your experiences.
