Continuing in my blog series celebrating my 10 years in business Lene has kindly shared her experiences with me.  She joined my Tuesday morning group in 2019 and has stuck by me through thick and thin.  She is a big supporter of the school trips we do visiting exhibitions in London and is often inspired by things we have seen.

Thank you Lene for all of your support!

Lene has kindly answered some questions for me to share her answers and I have some photos of her creations to show you too.

How long have you been attending classes and what do you enjoy about them?

I started in January 2020, I enjoy the creative aspects as well as the camaraderie in the group!

Why did you choose Hampshire School of Jewellery?

When I decided to learn silversmithing, I googled and found Hampshire School of jewellery.  I sent a message to Laura and received a very positive response back.  I could feel this was more a personal and relaxed school in comparison to other places that seemed somewhat corporate!

Which classes have you taken and do you have a favourite?

I started basic with the Beginners 10 week course and have been a regular in the Tuesday morning class ever since! I have taken part in Silver Art Clay classes too which I also enjoy very much.

What has been your favourite piece to make?

My favourite piece is difficult to choose as I have enjoyed most of what I do! I have managed to narrow it down to two pieces; the first being my 1 metre long chain necklace, even though it was a little “on repeat”!

My second favourite is my carnelian bead necklace.  For both the silver link and beaded necklace I have made them so I can add different pendants to them so they are really versatile.

I think it is important to say my style is simple but BLUNT!

Do you have a favourite technique?

My favourite technique is probably reticulation, as I’m fascinated by the fact you never really know how your piece will turn out but the process is so therapeutic! And it leaves you with a very unique piece of jewellery every time.

Which piece of jewellery (that you have made!) do you wear the most?

The piece of jewellery I make the most is my 1 meter long chain and my carnelian bead necklace together with all my bracelets!

Is there a piece you found hard to create but you love the end result?

I never find pieces difficult, because that’s where Laura comes in.  I wouldn’t have achieved as much, if she didn’t apply the world of patience and helped me! Which is also why, I’m never stopping until Laura stops her business!

Would you recommend Hampshire School of Jewellery and why?

Would I recommend Hampshire School of Jewellery, absolutely!
I have brought my daughter once and introduced a friend to join too!
It’s such a lovely place to be and as you get to know your fellow participants, you create long lasting friendships, I wouldn’t be without my Tuesday morning group!
